Erratic Corridor Behavior Captured on Resident Surveillance Video
A full-time national serviceman (NSF) has come under official scrutiny after a 28-minute CCTV recording surfaced showing him in a state of visible physical distress. The footage, captured by a resident at Block 452A Sengkang West Way, shows the man in a beige T-shirt repeatedly taking puffs from a vaping device before losing his balance. According to the recording, which was shared via the media outlet Stomp, the man was seen stumbling down a public corridor and attempting to enter a flat for which he did not possess the keys.
Police Intervention Following Resident Assistance Calls
The Singapore Police Force confirmed that they received a request for assistance at approximately 1.30am on April 2. Upon arrival at the scene, officers encountered the man loitering in the corridor, appearing unsteady on his feet and having previously fallen. During the interaction, which was recorded by the surveillance system at 1.50am, the man struggled significantly with basic cognitive tasks, including recalling his home address and providing his identity card number. Officers eventually clarified that the man was on the sixth floor despite his claim of residing on the seventh.
Military Discipline and Health Sciences Authority Referrals
Following the initial police intervention, the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) confirmed on April 24 that the individual in question is an NSF serving with the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). A spokesperson for the ministry stated that the man has since been referred to the Health Sciences Authority for further investigation into his possession and use of vaping paraphernalia. The ministry emphasized that the SAF maintains a strict code of conduct regarding prohibited items, noting that all personnel are expected to uphold high standards of discipline regardless of their duty status.
