New Partnership for Jail Healthcare
During its Tuesday, March 10, 2026 meeting, the Shasta County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a base contract totaling $25,023,769 with Mediko, Inc. The agreement transitions the facility's healthcare operations to a new provider following a competitive bidding process (RFP 26-02) that drew eight different proposals. Mediko, which recently expanded into California through similar contracts in San Benito County, was selected following detailed negotiations focused on cost-efficiency and clinical accountability.
Scope of Services and Specialized Care
The three-year contract, which includes two automatic one-year renewal options, covers a wide array of essential services for adult detainees, including:
