Developments in a Cold Shooting Case
The Louisville Metro Police Department has successfully identified a second individual allegedly involved in a shooting that occurred nearly six months ago in the Taylor-Berry neighborhood. Chance Guthrie now faces a string of serious charges related to the September 30, 2025, incident. Like the first suspect charged in this case, Guthrie was already incarcerated at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections (LMDC) on unrelated charges when the new warrants were served, marking a breakthrough in the lengthy investigation.
The September 30 Incident
The investigation began when staff at UofL Hospital alerted LMPD that a man had arrived at the emergency room seeking treatment for multiple gunshot wounds. The victim had transported himself to the hospital, and following an initial interview, detectives were able to pinpoint the crime scene to the intersection of Utah Avenue and Thornberry Avenue. Despite the lack of immediate arrests at the scene, forensic evidence and subsequent interviews led investigators to focus on two primary suspects over the following months.
Detailed Charges for Guthrie and Moore
Chance Guthrie has been formally charged with second-degree assault, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and receiving stolen property valued at $10,000 or more. He also faces a charge of illegal discharge of a firearm. His co-defendant, Noraion Moore, was charged on March 5, 2026, also while already in police custody. The accumulation of these charges suggests that the weapons used in the shooting may have been linked to other criminal activities or thefts within the Louisville area.
