Urgent Regional Coordination Amid Military Threats

In the wake of unprecedented military aggression attributed to Iran, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, has initiated a comprehensive diplomatic campaign to stabilize the Middle East. On Wednesday, the Foreign Minister engaged in high-stakes telephone consultations with regional allies and top European Union leadership. These talks focused on the immediate security repercussions of recent Iranian strikes, which have targeted multiple sovereign territories including Gulf states and Jordan, threatening the stability of global energy corridors and regional peace.

Solidarity with Oman Following Port of Salalah Attack

A primary focus of the diplomatic efforts was the "blatant" attack on the Port of Salalah in Oman. During a call with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Albusaidi, Prince Faisal expressed the Kingdom’s firm condemnation of the strike. He affirmed Saudi Arabia’s total solidarity with the Sultanate, stating that the Kingdom is ready to place all its capabilities at Oman's disposal to safeguard its territory and citizens. This statement of support underscores the growing unity among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) members in the face of direct military provocation.

Engagement with Egypt, Bahrain, and the European Union

The Saudi Foreign Minister also consulted with Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty and Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani. These discussions centered on diplomatic mechanisms to contain the current military escalation and prevent a wider regional conflict. Additionally, Prince Faisal spoke with the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, to align international efforts. The European Union's involvement highlights the global significance of the crisis, as the international community monitors the threat to maritime security and regional sovereignty.
