Serhii "Flash" Beskrestnov, a radio technology specialist and adviser to Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence, confirmed that these devices are appearing in large quantities. The shift suggests a centralized effort by the Russian military to restore high-speed data capabilities that were disrupted following their disconnection from Western satellite services.

Technical Advantages of the Spirit-030 System

The Spirit-030 distinguishes itself from previous Russian satellite models through its portability and reduced physical signature. Unlike older variants that required bulky 90-centimeter dishes, the Spirit-030 utilizes a specialized geostationary satellite connection that allows for a much smaller 30-centimeter antenna. This compact design makes the terminals easier to conceal and transport, posing a new challenge for Ukrainian reconnaissance teams tasked with identifying and neutralizing enemy technical infrastructure.

Ukrainian Drone Units Target Signal Nodes

The first confirmed destruction of a Spirit-030 terminal was carried out by the 414th Birds of Madyar Brigade of the Unmanned Systems Forces. Pilots from the brigade successfully identified the specific antenna profile and eliminated the target with a precision drone strike. Following this successful engagement, defense officials have issued a high-priority alert to all Ukrainian drone operators to monitor the battlefield specifically for the unique silhouette of these 30-centimeter satellite dishes.
