Police Respond To Incident At Municipal Detention Facility

Authorities in Adams County were called to handle a disturbance at their own facility early Monday afternoon. At approximately 1:02 p.m., deputies with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident occurring on the exterior of the jail. According to department reports, a woman was observed causing a significant disturbance that resulted in physical damage to the building. The area was quickly secured by on site personnel to prevent any potential security breaches.

Government Property Damaged During Midday Altercation

The investigation revealed that a large window located on the south side of the correctional facility had been shattered. Law enforcement identified the suspect as Kievannah L. Johnson, 21, of Quincy. Officials noted that the destruction involved government supported property, which often carries specific legal penalties under Illinois law. While the motive for the act has not been publicly released, the damage was localized to the exterior glass and did not impact the interior secure zones of the jail.

Charges Filed For Property Damage And Obstructing Identification

Following her arrest, Johnson was formally charged with criminal damage to government supported property and obstructing identification. The latter charge typically indicates that a suspect provided false information or refused to cooperate with officers during the booking process. After being processed for the new allegations, Johnson was transported back to the Adams County Jail to await her initial court appearance.
