Legal Action Against Digital Harassment
In a move to protect his reputation and personal safety, popular Muslim cleric Sheik Jamiu Sanusi has sought the intervention of law enforcement. Through his legal counsel, G.H. Agoro & Co., a petition dated April 13, 2026, was submitted to the Lagos State Police Command. The document details a series of digital attacks that the cleric’s team describes as "orchestrated to bully and harass" him into a state of constant fear for his life.
Allegations of Spiritual Sabotage and Financial Ruin
The petition outlines specific, damaging claims allegedly made by Saheed Teyinbo (Alfasuna) on various social media platforms. Teyinbo is accused of stating that the cleric used diabolical means to destroy the life of a benefactor who had sponsored his pilgrimage to Mecca and gifted him a vehicle. Furthermore, the accused allegedly claimed that Sheik Sanusi was spiritually responsible for a medical complication involving Teyinbo’s wife, as well as the financial downfall of a wealthy chairman who was purportedly forced to liquidate his properties due to the cleric's "spiritual machinations."
Incitement of Violence and Public Hostility
A central concern of the petition is the real-world consequence of these online narratives. Counsel Ade Osinaike Esq. noted that the deliberate falsehoods have attracted "limitless online and physical attacks" against Sheik Sanusi. The petition alleges that "online mobs" have begun targeting the cleric during his public sermons, creating a breach of public peace and putting him at risk of severe bodily injury. The legal team has urged the police to investigate the matter as a case of cyberstalking with the fear of death.
