Strategic Leadership Transition At The Corporate Affairs Commission

President Bola Tinubu has formally designated Dr. Ibrahim Ida to lead the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as its new Chairman. This appointment brings a veteran administrative presence to the regulatory body responsible for company registrations and corporate governance in Nigeria. Dr. Ida possesses an extensive academic background, including an MSc in Banking and Finance from the University of Ibadan and a law degree from the University of Abuja. According to the presidency, his previous experience as a Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service and his tenure as a Senator representing Katsina Central provide the necessary expertise to oversee the nation’s corporate regulatory framework.

Expanding Representation Within The National Population Commission

In a concurrent move to strengthen demographic data management, the President has forwarded seven nominees to the National Assembly to serve as Federal Commissioners for the National Population Commission (NPC). The nominees, selected to represent their respective states, include Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi for Ekiti, Nasiru Mu’azu for Zamfara, and Usman Abubakar Tuggar for Bauchi. Other designates are Dr. Isaka Alada Yahaya for Kwara, Professor Sadiq Isah Radda for Katsina, Suleiman Umar for Jigawa, and Hon. Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo for Sokoto. According to presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, these nominations are intended to fill existing vacancies and ensure a full complement of commissioners to handle upcoming national census and demographic tasks.

Strengthening Economic Advisory Through Political Economy Expertise

The President has also confirmed the appointment of Bala Mohammed Bello as the Special Adviser on Political Economy, a role critical for aligning fiscal policies with political objectives. Bello, an alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University with an MBA in Accounting, transitions to the presidency following a high profile tenure as a Deputy Governor at the Central Bank of Nigeria. His professional history also includes serving as an Executive Director at the Nigerian Export, Import Bank between 2017 and 2022. According to government statements, Bello is expected to leverage his deep understanding of the financial sector to provide strategic counsel on the administration’s economic reform agenda.
