Details of the Alleged "Predatory" Offending
Police claim the woman targeted patients while they were undergoing treatment, stealing personal items and credit cards directly from their bedsides. The stolen cards were allegedly used to make unauthorized purchases totaling approximately $50,000.
Acting Inspector CJ Miles of the Waitematā East Area Prevention team noted that the thefts exacerbated the existing hardships of the victims, who were already navigating health crises. The suspect is currently facing:
Six counts of burglary
One count of property theft
Nine charges related to the fraudulent use of stolen credit cards
