A Domestic Dispute Escalates to Mass Violence

A frantic manhunt is currently underway in Gauteng after a domestic dispute turned into a deadly shooting spree in Rabie Ridge. According to preliminary police reports, a suspected gunman—identified as a security officer—was involved in a heated argument with his girlfriend at a residence in the Kanana section. The altercation turned fatal when the suspect allegedly shot his girlfriend before killing two additional people at the home. All three primary victims were declared dead at the scene by emergency responders.

Police and Bystanders Caught in the Crossfire

The violence continued as South African Police Service (SAPS) officials arrived to investigate the shooting. The suspect reportedly opened fire on the responding police vehicle, resulting in a chaotic scene that left two other women wounded. Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi confirmed that a police officer was also injured during the exchange, sustaining wounds from shattered glass as bullets struck the police vehicle. The two wounded women and the injured officer have since been transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Suspect Remains at Large

Following the attack on the police and the triple homicide, the suspect fled the scene and remains at large. Police have identified the individual as a security officer, though his current whereabouts are unknown. Authorities are treating the suspect as armed and dangerous, given his profession and the nature of the assault on law enforcement. The motive beyond the initial domestic argument is still under investigation as detectives process the multiple crime scenes within the residential area.
