Serious Incident on Heriot Row
Dunedin emergency services were alerted to a violent incident on Heriot Row at approximately 8:00 am on Saturday, April 25, 2026. Early reports indicated that an individual had been assaulted with a weapon at a local residential address. Upon arrival, officers located the victim nearby after they had attempted to flee the scene on foot. The victim was immediately treated by paramedics and transported to Dunedin Hospital in serious condition.
Suspect in Custody
Detective Sergeant Matthew Harris of the Dunedin CIB confirmed that a suspect known to the victim was apprehended shortly after the incident. Police have stated they are not currently seeking anyone else in connection with the assault, suggesting the event was isolated between the parties involved. However, the exact circumstances leading up to the weapon attack remain under active investigation.
