Capitalizing on the Mainland Sale
The sale of Fonterra’s iconic brands—including Anchor and Mainland—to French dairy giant Lactalis triggered a massive capital repayment to shareholders. As one of the largest pastoral farmers in Aotearoa, Pāmu received $9.5 million from the divestment.
State-Owned Enterprises Minister Simeon Brown confirmed that this special dividend brings Pāmu's total contribution to the Crown for the 2025/26 financial year to $25 million.
"Every dollar returned to the Crown is available to support the government's investment in public services New Zealanders rely on, including schools, hospitals, and roads," Minister Brown stated.
A Turnaround in Performance
Pāmu’s ability to issue the dividend reflects a significant operational recovery. Managing 360,000 hectares across 112 farms, the firm has focused on a "five-year reset" to improve productivity and fiscal discipline.
