Early Results and the Race for the Runoff
As of Monday afternoon, April 13, official preliminary results from ONPE show a tight race between the two leading conservative figures. While no candidate is close to the 50% threshold required to win outright, the current standings are:
Keiko Fujimori (Fuerza Popular): Approximately 17.17%
Rafael López Aliaga (Renovación Popular): Approximately 16.97%
These figures indicate that Fujimori is poised to advance to a runoff for the fourth consecutive time (following narrow losses in 2011, 2016, and 2021). However, the second spot remains highly contested, with candidates like Roberto Sánchez (Juntos por el Perú) and Ricardo Belmont (OBRAS) still mathematically within reach as rural and late-arriving ballots are processed.
