Vanguard Leadership Rejects Political Commercialization

During a press briefing in Kano on Monday, the chairman of the PRP Vanguard, Abdulmajid Yakubu Dauda, issued a stern warning against attempts to convert the political party into a financial commodity. The leadership stated that the People’s Redemption Party remains strictly committed to its original ideology and will not permit external actors to use the organization for personal or financial gain. This declaration follows reports of a coordinated effort by groups associated with the African Democratic Congress to infiltrate and assume control of the party’s executive functions.

Allegations Against the Kaduna Mafia

Dauda specifically accused a group he identified as the "Kaduna Mafia" of orchestrating a structural takeover despite having no historical ties to the party. He alleged that these individuals, based in Kaduna, have begun acting as legitimate leaders and are bypassing established protocols to invite members from other distressed political parties into the PRP. The Vanguard leader characterized these figures as members of the political elite whose interests are fundamentally at odds with the party's traditional focus on the welfare of ordinary citizens.

Judicial Status and Reconciliation Obstacles

The internal crisis within the party remains unresolved, with Dauda confirming that the matter is currently pending before the courts. He dismissed recent calls for reconciliation and unity ahead of the 2027 general elections, arguing that any agreement for unity must not ignore the existing party structures or its core beliefs. According to the PRP Vanguard, there is currently no formal agreement for reconciliation with any splinter group or external organization seeking a merger or takeover.
