Fatal Traffic Incident Near Beit Einun Junction
A 16 year old boy identified as Mohammad Majdi al-Ja’abari was killed early Tuesday morning after a car collided with his electric bicycle. The incident occurred near the Beit Einun Junction in the vicinity of Hebron, a frequent site of traffic and security related friction in the West Bank. Medics arriving at the scene from the Magen David Adom emergency service found the teenager with critical injuries and were forced to declare him dead at the site of the crash. Local law enforcement has since opened a formal investigation into the circumstances of the collision to determine the sequence of events that led to the fatality.
Security Convoy Involvement and Ministry Response
The vehicle involved in the crash has been identified as belonging to the Magen security company, a private firm contracted to provide protection for high ranking government ministers. Following initial reports that the car was part of a security detail for National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, the minister’s office released a statement clarifying his role in the morning’s events. The statement confirmed that while the vehicle is part of his security apparatus, it was not the minister’s personal car and he was not present when the collision occurred. This clarification came as media outlets began scrutinizing the involvement of government linked personnel in the tragic event.
Conflicting Accounts of the Collision Circumstances
The National Security Minister’s office provided an account of the accident that placed the responsibility on the actions of the deceased minor. According to the official statement, the teenager reportedly entered the intersection at a red light, leaving the security driver with insufficient time to react. The office maintained that the guard attempted to perform evasive maneuvers to avoid the cyclist but was unsuccessful. The report further noted that the security guard sustained injuries during the crash and was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. These details are expected to form a central part of the police inquiry into the crash.
