Denial of Financial Inducement

The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, has forcefully denied allegations that he received financial inducements from proxies of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to facilitate the impeachment of Governor Seyi Makinde. Ogundoyin described the claims as fabricated and politically motivated, aimed at tarnishing his reputation and destabilizing the legislative-executive harmony in the state. He asserted that while he had been presented with significant offers and opportunities, he declined them immediately to uphold his conscience and commitment to the people.

Clarifying the Olubadan Visit

Addressing rumors surrounding his visit to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the Speaker clarified that the meeting was strictly consultative and occurred weeks before the current controversy. Ogundoyin stated that the purpose of the visit was to formally inform the monarch of his own governorship ambition and to seek traditional blessings. He urged the public to disregard any narratives linking this visit to an impeachment conspiracy, emphasizing that his relationship with the Governor remains transparent and cooperative.

Ladoja’s Family Refutes Bribery Claims

Sola Ladoja, son of the Olubadan, also weighed in to clear the air regarding the Speaker's visit. He clarified that while the meeting was political in nature, it had no connection to financial inducements or opposition-led impeachment plots. Sola explained that his previous mention of "receipts" during public discussions referred to the substance of conversations held, not to any monetary transactions. This clarification aims to de-escalate the tension generated by misinterpretations of the Speaker's movements within the state's traditional and political circles.
