Life After the PDP Chairmanship
Since completing his tenure as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2021, Prince Uche Secondus has largely remained out of the public eye. Addressing his recent activities, Secondus clarified that he has returned to his "second address"—the private business sector where he operated for decades before entering full-time politics. Trained by the London Chamber of Commerce, Secondus noted that his background in real estate, retail, insurance, and oil and gas services provided him with financial independence, allowing him to serve in political roles without relying on party funds or illicit gains.
Challenging the "Looters List"
One of the defining moments of Secondus’s post-chairmanship era was his legal victory against the Federal Government. After being included in a "looters list" published by former Information Minister Lai Mohammed, Secondus was the only individual on that list to formally challenge the government in court. "I was bold enough to approach the court to challenge it. After two years, I won the case," he stated, citing the lack of evidence against him as proof that "not all politicians are dirty." He emphasized that despite thorough investigations by the EFCC into campaign logistics, he was granted a clean bill of health.
Integrity in Party Primaries
Addressing long-standing rumors of financial impropriety within party leadership, Secondus challenged former aspirants and candidates to speak out if they ever paid him for tickets. He specifically cited high-profile figures such as Governor Seyi Makinde, Governor Bala Mohammed, and Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as witnesses to his conduct. "I never collected anything from them," Secondus asserted, arguing that his goal was always the meritorious service of the party rather than pecuniary gain.
