A Move from Two Wheels to Four
A heartwarming story of family appreciation has emerged from Ruiyobei Village in Uasin Gishu County. Brenda Kurgat, who moved to the UK to seek better opportunities, recently returned a portion of her success to her roots by surprising her father with a brand-new vehicle. The gift was intended to officially "upgrade" him from his life as a boda boda (motorcycle taxi) rider, a strenuous hustle he had maintained for years to support his family.
The Sacrifice of a Father's Hustle
The motivation behind the gift stems from Kurgat’s childhood observations of her father’s tireless labor. According to Kurgat, her father worked both as a farmer and a transporter, using his motorcycle to move supplies between their village and Eldoret town. Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, she noted that as he aged, the physical toll of riding a boda boda daily became a source of concern, prompting her to find a way to ease his daily burden and provide a more comfortable mode of transport.
A Personal Milestone Celebrated Digitally
Kurgat, who currently lives in the city of Norwich, showcased the presentation of the car on her social media platforms. The vehicle was decorated with balloons and ribbons for the surprise ceremony. She described the act not just as a financial transaction, but as a symbolic gesture representing the quiet strength her father showed while raising her and her siblings. "It’s not just a car, it’s gratitude," she stated, reflecting on the financial stability her father fought to provide through his farming.
