Allegations Of Malice And Political Marginalization

The North-Central All Progressives Congress Forum has issued a stern public statement accusing the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, of intentionally sidelining its stakeholders. The friction reportedly stems from the Forum’s successful campaign to facilitate the defection of Plateau State Governor Caleb Muftwang from the PDP to the APC in January 2026. Despite the Governor bringing his entire executive council into the party, the Forum alleges that Yilwatda continues to harbor grudges against those who orchestrated the move.

A Clash Of Ambitions In Plateau State Politics

At the center of the dispute is the perceived rivalry between Yilwatda and Governor Muftwang. Yilwatda was the APC governorship candidate in 2023, a race he lost to Muftwang. Insinuations within the party suggest that Yilwatda intends to run for the governorship again in the next cycle and viewed Muftwang’s entry into the APC as a threat to his personal political trajectory. While the National Chairman has publicly welcomed the Governor, the Forum’s Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, argues that Yilwatda’s actions behind the scenes indicate a deep seated resentment.

The Forum’s Role In Yilwatda’s Ascent To Chairmanship

The North-Central APC Forum expressed particular disappointment given their own history of support for Yilwatda. The group was instrumental in agitating for the National Chairmanship position to be returned to the North-Central zone, a move that directly enabled Yilwatda’s emergence. Zazzaga noted that instead of appreciating the stakeholders who sacrificed for his position, Yilwatda has chosen to "witch hunt" committed party members, effectively working to reduce their influence within the party’s regional hierarchy.
