A Lethal Confrontation At Effurun Motor Park

The Delta State Police Command is facing intense public scrutiny following the extrajudicial execution of Oghenemine Ogidi, an entertainment figure known as OG Million. On April 26, members of a surveillance team led by ASP Nuhu Usman responded to a call regarding a suspicious consignment containing a pistol at a logistics desk. Upon arrival, the team found Ogidi already restrained by park officials. Despite the victim being tied and offering to cooperate by leading officers to the individual who sent the parcel, the situation turned fatal when Usman opened fire in front of a gathering crowd.

Video Evidence Contradicts Initial Security Narratives

A viral video recorded by a bystander has become the primary catalyst for the swift disciplinary action against the officers involved. The footage depicts Ogidi sitting on the ground with his legs and hands bound, begging for his life and claiming he was deceived into picking up the parcel. According to SP Edafe Bright, the Police Public Relations Officer, the team leader’s weapon initially malfunctioned, prompting him to swap magazines with a colleague before shooting the restrained suspect at close range. This evidence effectively dismantled any potential claims of self defense or accidental discharge.

Systemic Failure Within The Area Command Walls

The brutality extended beyond the initial shooting at the motor park. Reports indicate that after the first shot, Usman and his team moved the injured Ogidi to the premises of the Effurun Area Command. Without notifying superior officers or the Area Commander, ACP Shaba, the team reportedly finished the victim off with multiple gunshots behind the station walls. The command's leadership expressed shock at the development, noting that the instructions were simply to bring the suspect in for questioning, as he was already unarmed and incapacitated.
