A Permanent Home for a Storied Private Label

Heidi Barrett, the winemaking consultant behind legendary Napa Valley brands like Screaming Eagle and Dalla Valle, has officially established a physical headquarters for her personal brand, La Sirena. After thirty years of operating without a public storefront, the new tasting room is located at 810 Foothill Boulevard in Calistoga. Barrett purchased the industrial building and winery last August, ending a decade-long search for a space that met her specific requirements for size and cost.

Transitioning Focus to Multi-Generational Legacy

The opening of the Calistoga location represents a post-retirement career pivot for the sixty-eight-year-old winemaker. Barrett has recently reduced her client portfolio to a small selection of wineries to dedicate more resources to La Sirena. The business is a family affair, with her daughters Chelsea and Remi Barrett serving as associate winemaker and director of sales and marketing, respectively. This structural change is designed to position the brand for future leadership by Barrett's daughters and granddaughters.

Creative Diversification Beyond Premium Cabernet

While Barrett is synonymous with ultra-premium Cabernet Sauvignon, La Sirena serves as a platform for more experimental and approachable winemaking. The flagship wine remains a $185 Cabernet sourced from Barrett’s home vineyard, yet the brand also offers unconventional Napa bottlings such as a dry, aromatic Moscato. Another centerpiece of the collection is Pirate TreasuRed, a complex blend of seven different grape varieties including Syrah, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec.
