A Destructive Path Through Hibiscus Place

Residents of a Miramar neighborhood were startled Monday night by a series of high speed collisions involving a local driver. According to Miramar Police, 63 year old Anton Tracey was operating his vehicle near Hibiscus Place and Evergreen Drive when he struck two parked cars. The momentum of the crash sent Tracey’s vehicle careening into a truck owned by Dr. Ruth Cook, pushing the heavy pickup through the exterior wall of her residence. The impact left a gaping hole in the structure, just feet from where her husband, Earl, was watching television.

Reconstruction of the Incident

The debris field left behind by the suspect provided investigators with a clear trail of the night's events. Before the final impact with the Cook residence, Tracey reportedly destroyed a neighbor’s mailbox and slammed into several trees and street signs. Despite the severity of the damage—which left the grill and bumper of Tracey’s truck embedded at the scene—the suspect managed to continue driving. Cell phone footage captured by neighbors showed the vehicle finally coming to a halt down the block, where Tracey was found remarkably uninjured.

DUI and Hit and Run Allegations

Witnesses at the scene described the driver as being "very, very intoxicated" following the crash. Miramar Police responded to the neighborhood and took Tracey into custody. He currently faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence (DUI) and leaving the scene of an accident. Neighbors noted that Tracey has lived in the community for a long time, making the sudden outburst of vehicular violence particularly disturbing for those on the block.
