Audemars Piguet: Reimagining Streamline Moderne

Audemars Piguet has revisited its archives to introduce the Neo Frame Jumping Hour, inspired by a 1929 design. Housed in a 32.6mm by 34mm pink gold rectangular case, the watch features CNC-machined vertical gadroons that evoke the aerodynamic silhouettes of 1930s ocean liners. Technical innovation is found in the dial construction: a black PVD-treated sapphire crystal bonded directly to the dial plate to achieve water resistance without a traditional metal frame. It is powered by the Calibre 7122, the manufacture’s first self-winding jumping hour movement, which includes a patented shock-absorbing system to prevent accidental hour jumps.

Louis Vuitton and the Synergy of Complications

The Escale Minute Repeater by Louis Vuitton demonstrates a high-level synchronization of two independent systems: a jumping hour display and a chiming minute repeater. The manually wound LFT SO 13.01 calibre ensures that at the top of each hour, the numeral disc snaps forward while the retrograde minutes return to zero via an integrated damping system. The dial features 60 hours of traditional hand-guillochage in a "flamme" motif, while the hour window at 6 o’clock is polished to create a "bassine" effect, enhancing legibility through reflected light.

Artistic Mastery: Raul Tena and Jaeger-LeCoultre

Raul Tena – The Pearl Diver: A three-dimensional horological sculpture limited to five pieces. It features a hand-engraved gold diver by Olivier Kuhn and a natural Gulf pearl. The jumping hour and retrograde minutes are powered by the RT01 calibre, developed by Telos Watch SA.
