Escape Details and Police Response
Angok made his break shortly after 9:30 am on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, fleeing the hospital grounds on foot. The initial response involved a dense deployment of assets, including:
Polair: Providing aerial surveillance over the Bankstown and surrounding suburbs.
Dog Squad: Tracking scents from the hospital perimeter.
Raptor Squad: Assisting in high-visibility patrols and ground cordons.
While investigators discovered several of Angok’s "personal items" discarded on Gallipoli Road shortly after his escape, he managed to evade the immediate perimeter. On Thursday, a fresh arrest warrant was issued, allowing the AFP to officially join the pursuit as Angok was in federal custody awaiting deportation at the time of his flight.
