A Tragic Encounter in the Green Zone
The sequence of events at Kuala Lumpur International Airport began in the early afternoon when a 27 year old woman from China was observed in a state of high emotional distress. According to KLIA police chief M. Ravi, the individual was positioned outside a balcony in the Level 3 Green Zone, where she was heard screaming aggressively and crying. Despite the immediate intervention of security personnel and staff who attempted to de-escalate the situation, the woman fell into the loading bay area following a struggle with a security officer who had approached her for a rescue attempt.
Medical Intervention and Final Pronouncement
Following the fall at 2.20pm, emergency medical teams provided on site care before the victim was rushed to Putrajaya Hospital for urgent treatment. Despite these clinical efforts, she was pronounced dead at 5.09pm. Initial investigations by the authorities revealed that the woman had been scheduled to return to China the following day, May 2. The abrupt nature of the incident has left investigators piecing together the circumstances that led to her visible distress in the moments preceding the fatal fall.
A Second Incident Under the Night Sky
The airport was struck by a second tragedy just hours later when a 30 year old Algerian man was involved in a similar incident at 9.10pm. Witness accounts provided to Assistant Commissioner Ravi indicate that the man was seen opening his backpack before running toward a barrier on the Level 3 outer balcony and jumping over it. This second event, while occurring in the same terminal, has been identified by police as being entirely independent of the afternoon tragedy involving the Chinese national.
