A Major Breakthrough in a Southwest Valley Homicide
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reached a significant turning point in a months-long investigation on Thursday with the announcement of nine arrests linked to a fatal shooting from last summer. The case dates back to the early hours of July 9, 2025, when a violent encounter disrupted a neighborhood in the 6000 block of Coja Street. Patrol officers responding to reports of gunfire discovered an adult male inside a residential garage suffering from critical gunshot wounds, where he was subsequently pronounced dead by medical personnel.
Tactical Execution of a Premeditated Neighborhood Ambush
Homicide detectives reconstructed the events leading up to the fatality, identifying a white Dodge Charger with a distinct black front bumper as the primary vehicle used in the attack. Investigators learned that the car had circled the neighborhood multiple times before several occupants exited the vehicle to open fire on the residence. The ferocity of the assault was marked by the discharge of more than 30 rounds, a detail from previous reports that underscores the targeted nature of the shooting before the suspects fled the scene.
A Multi-State Manhunt and Extradition Process
The apprehension of the nine suspects required a broad law enforcement effort that spanned several months and reached across the United States. While several arrests occurred locally in September and October of 2025, others were located in distant jurisdictions. Rashid Soukesian, 28, was apprehended in Los Angeles in late November, while 27 year old Johntryae Mitchell was tracked to Atlantic City in January 2026. Both individuals underwent formal extradition processes to be returned to Clark County to face high-level felony charges.
