A Return to the Festival Roots

The honor marks a full-circle moment for Bi Gan, whose debut feature Kaili Blues won the festival’s top prize in 2016. Festival director Luis Miranda praised Bi’s filmography as consisting of "true masterpieces," highlighting his unique ability to blend dreamlike imagery with non-linear storytelling. The award ceremony is scheduled for April 29, 2026, at Cine Yelmo Las Arenas, where Bi will engage in a public discussion following a screening of his latest award-winning feature.

"Bi Gan Blues": The Retrospective Program

The retrospective, aptly titled "Bi Gan Blues," will showcase six key works from the director's career, offering audiences a deep dive into his evolving style. The selection includes:

Features: Kaili Blues, Long Day’s Journey Into Night, and Resurrection (which recently won the Jury Special Prize at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival).

Shorts: The Poet and Singer, A Short Story, and Secret Goldfish.
