The "Labour Modernisation Law": Key Provisions
Approved by Congress in February 2026, the reform introduces several radical shifts in Argentine employment law aimed at increasing flexibility and reducing the 43% informal employment rate:
Severance Changes: Reduces total severance pay and allows for payments to be made in installments.
Working Hours: Extends the legal working day to 12 hours without the requirement for overtime pay.
Payment Methods: Permits employers to provide payment in kind (goods or services).
Strike Restrictions: Places new legal limits on the right to strike and protest.
