A Vision for 21st Century Industrial Leadership

The Lagos State Government has formally introduced its Industrial Policy 2025-2030, marking a significant shift toward a more technologically advanced and resilient economic structure. During the unveiling ceremony in Lagos, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister ‘Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, emphasized that the global industrial landscape is moving beyond mere scale. The new policy prioritizes innovation, efficiency, and the ability to adapt to evolving global supply chains, ensuring that Lagos remains the commercial heartbeat of Nigeria and a critical entry point for the West African sub-region.

Strategic Pillars and Economic Alignment

The 2025-2030 policy is built on five strategic pillars: infrastructure development, regulatory reform, access to finance, skills development, and sustainability. These objectives are integrated into the state’s broader T.H.E.M.E.S Development Agenda and the Lagos State Development Plan 2052. By aligning with these long-term visions, the government intends to transform Lagos into a globally competitive megacity where productivity is driven by industrial excellence and modern production systems.

Optimizing Logistics and Cluster Development

A key component of the policy involves the expansion and optimization of industrial clusters and estates across the state. The Governor noted that improving the efficiency of the port system, particularly through the Lekki Deep Sea Port, is vital to reducing the cost of moving goods and enhancing the competitiveness of local manufacturers. The policy also includes provisions to support small and medium-scale manufacturers, helping them scale their operations and integrate more effectively into regional and global value chains.
