Responding to the Ruling Party’s Internal Alignments

Prince Laja Adeoye, a prominent aspirant for the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos, has officially addressed the recent wave of endorsements within the All Progressives Congress. Following the public backing of Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Governance Advisory Council, Adeoye described these events as standard internal positioning by the ruling party. In a statement released on Tuesday, he noted that while political parties naturally seek to consolidate power, such activities should not overshadow the immediate developmental needs of the Lagos electorate.

Prioritizing Accountability Over Early Electioneering

The opposition leader emphasized that political alignments ahead of the 2027 elections must remain anchored in service delivery and institutional accountability. Adeoye argued that the current political climate in the state requires a greater focus on transparency rather than premature succession planning. He suggested that the true measure of any political movement should be its ability to improve the living conditions of the citizens it serves, rather than the efficiency of its internal candidate selection processes.

Addressing the Critical Infrastructure Deficit

According to Adeoye, the government’s primary attention should be redirected toward solving the chronic challenges that continue to plague the Lagos metropolitan area. He specifically cited traffic management, persistent flooding, and the shortage of affordable housing as areas requiring urgent executive intervention. The PDP aspirant noted that despite various political announcements, the daily reality for many residents remains defined by infrastructure gaps that hinder economic productivity and quality of life.
