Rejecting Speculations of Anointed Candidates

Olajide Adediran (Jandor), a leading aspirant for the Lagos State governorship under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has moved to clear the air regarding the party's candidate selection process. Responding to widespread rumors that party leaders have already handpicked a successor for the 2027 race, Jandor emphasized that no such endorsement has taken place. Through his spokesperson, Gbenga Ogunleye, he maintained that the party remains committed to a credible and transparent process for all aspirants.

Loyalty to the Consensus Model

In a significant show of party discipline, Jandor stated that he would fully align with the leadership’s chosen method of selection. He explicitly noted that if the party’s leaders and "the Leader" resolve to adopt a consensus candidate to ensure unity, he would support that individual regardless of who it is. This stance is seen as an effort to avoid the internal friction that has occasionally plagued the Lagos APC during transition cycles.

Preparing for a Credible Primary

While expressing his readiness to accept a consensus, Jandor remains actively in the race. His team is currently strengthening grassroots structures and engaging with party members across the state in preparation for the primary election scheduled for next month. He reiterated the official position of the Lagos State APC Chairman, confirming that the platform remains open to all qualified aspirants until the formal selection is concluded.
