Intelligence-Led Raid on Criminal Hideouts
In a coordinated effort to restore order within the Katsina Metropolis, the Katsina State Police Command has announced the arrest of 26 suspected social miscreants. The operation, executed by SWAT operatives in the early hours of April 14, targeted identified criminal black spots and hideouts where gang activities were reportedly being organized. Police officials stated that the suspects were apprehended for various offenses, including membership in unlawful societies and creating public nuisances that have recently terrorized local residents.
Recovery of Weapons and Narcotics
During the raid, security operatives recovered a variety of dangerous exhibits, including live ammunition, swords, cutlasses, and sharp knives. In addition to physical weapons, the team seized six suspected stolen mobile phones and a significant quantity of illicit substances, including 500 pieces of Exol tablets and suspected Indian hemp. A pair of military camouflage shirts were also found, suggesting attempts by the suspects to impersonate security personnel. All 26 individuals have been processed and charged in court following the conclusion of preliminary investigations.
Executive Order Targets Gang Suppression
Coinciding with the police breakthrough, Governor Alhaji Dikko Radda has signed the "Miscreant Activities (Suppression) Order, 2026." This comprehensive Executive Order provides a new legal framework designed specifically to curb the rising cases of gang violence and street thuggery in urban centers. The Governor emphasized that the state would no longer tolerate lawlessness and that the order empowers authorities to take decisive action against any individual or group undermining public peace and safety.
