A Gruesome Attack in Kazaure
A horrific case of parricide has shaken the Kazaure Local Government Area of Jigawa State following the arrest of 27-year-old Kabiru Nuhu. The suspect was apprehended by police after allegedly pouring petrol on his biological father and setting him on fire. At the time of his arrest, Nuhu reportedly bore physical evidence of the crime, including burn injuries on the red trousers he was wearing during the incident. The victim’s injuries proved fatal, leading to a deep interrogation by state authorities to determine the motive behind such a violent act.
Confession Rooted in Family Estrangement
During a police interview, Nuhu admitted to the crime, attributing his decision to a long-standing and bitter misunderstanding within the household. He claimed that his father had effectively abandoned him, leaving him with a sense of deep-seated resentment and unhappiness. "I have been having issues with my father since, which made him abandon me," Nuhu stated. He explained that the feeling of being discarded by his parent drove him to the extreme decision to take his father's life.
Failed Rehabilitation and Drug Abuse
Further investigations and testimonies from family members have painted a more complex picture of the household's dynamics. Relatives disclosed that the father and son had not been on speaking terms for more than two years prior to the attack. According to family sources, the suspect was treated as an "outcast" primarily due to his persistent struggle with drug addiction. The father had reportedly reached a breaking point and distanced himself from Nuhu only after numerous attempts to rehabilitate him had failed.
