Naval assets under consideration

The Italian government is weighing the deployment of a FREMM-class frigate to the waters surrounding Cyprus. Alternatively, the deployment of the destroyer Caio Duilio is being discussed. Known for its powerful radar and air defense capabilities extending up to 350 kilometers, the Caio Duilio would provide a significant shield against ballistic and cruise missile threats.

A primary objective of the proposed naval mission is the protection of commercial shipping and energy flows.
