Mass Arrests Target Internal Intelligence Leaks

Iranian police chief Ahmad Reza Radan has confirmed a significant escalation in domestic security operations, resulting in the detention of 500 people on charges of espionage and information leakage. According to General Radan, roughly half of these cases involved "serious incidents" where suspects allegedly provided precise coordinates and filmed strike locations to assist foreign military operations. The mass arrests signal Tehran’s urgent effort to eliminate internal informants who are believed to be aiding the U.S. and Israeli air campaigns. This crackdown is part of a broader wartime strategy to seal the country’s information environment and prevent the compromise of sensitive military assets.

Dismantling Networks in West Azerbaijan and the Northwest

The semi-official Tasnim News Agency has reported a concentrated wave of arrests in the northwestern West Azerbaijan province, where 20 people were detained in the city of Urmia. These individuals are accused of operating as a coordinated network that transmitted location details of military, law enforcement, and security facilities directly to Israeli intelligence. Provincial prosecutor Hossein Majidi stated that the judicial phase of these cases is moving rapidly, with authorities utilizing cyber monitoring and physical raids to dismantle what they describe as "Zionist-linked" cells. The raids illustrate a heightened focus on border regions where security sensitivity has spiked following recent strikes on Iranian soil.

Economic Infrastructure and Northeast Security

In a notable expansion of the crackdown, security forces have also targeted regions previously distanced from the main theatre of military operations. In northeastern Iran, Tasnim reported the arrest of 10 people accused of gathering intelligence on vital economic infrastructure and sensitive civil sites. These arrests suggest that the Iranian government is concerned about a wide-scale intelligence effort targeting the country’s industrial and financial stability. By targeting informants in these untouched regions, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) aims to pre-emptively protect the nation’s supply chains and energy hubs from potential future sabotage or aerial targeting.
