Rejection of diplomatic overtures

Mojtaba Ferdousi Pour, the Iranian ambassador to Egypt, stated on Thursday that Iran has not requested talks with the United States to end the widening regional war. His comments directly contradict assertions by President Donald Trump that the Iranian government wants to talk. Speaking from the embassy in Cairo, the ambassador emphasized that engagement is currently impossible due to a profound lack of trust, particularly after the failure of two separate attempts to establish a nuclear agreement which ultimately culminated in the current hostilities.

Retaliatory threats against regional bases

The ambassador characterized the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the ongoing strikes against Iran as heinous crimes. He reiterated a standing warning that any military bases or facilities belonging to the United States or Israel, particularly those located on the borders of the Islamic Republic, are considered legitimate targets for Iranian attacks. This stance applies to any regional partners that allow the United States to benefit from military infrastructure on their soil during the active campaign.

A comprehensive multi domain conflict

Ferdousi Pour described the current situation as a comprehensive war that extends far beyond traditional military engagement. He noted that the conflict is simultaneously being fought in the fields of cyber warfare, economic pressure, and political security. This assessment comes as the war enters its sixth day, with Iran maintaining a steady rhythm of retaliatory attacks against Israeli targets, American bases, and various neighboring countries throughout the region.
