Formal Suspension of Ward Leadership and Members
The Agbarha ward chapter of the All Progressives Congress has officially confirmed the suspension of multiple party members within the Ughelli North Local Government Area. In a formal communication addressed to the LGA chairman, ward executives cited Article 21 of the APC Constitution as the legal basis for the disciplinary action. The affected individuals are accused of engaging in anti-party activities, creating division within the ranks, and deliberately flouting established rules and regulations. This development highlights a significant breakdown in administrative harmony at the local level.
Allegations of Factionalization and Misconduct
The list of suspended individuals includes several high profile figures, such as Chief Surv. Terry Noah, Barr. Charles Oniyere, and Chief Lucky Ofomukoro, among others. The charges brought against them are extensive, ranging from the alteration of delegates’ lists to tampering with internal democratic processes. The ward leadership, led by Chairman Comrade Morrison Aruoture, has characterized these actions as gross misconduct that threatens the structural integrity of the party. Consequently, all party faithful have been instructed to cease official dealings with the named individuals immediately.
Conflicting Claims of Authority and Counter-Suspensions
The crisis is further complicated by a series of conflicting suspension orders. The ward executive declared that a previously announced suspension of Chief Ominimini Christopher Obiuwevbi, Chief David Ohwoekevwo, and Mr. Morrison Aruoture was null and void. Proponents of the current suspension allege that the opposing group consists of former PDP members who "unlawfully converted themselves" into APC executives. This suggests a deep-seated struggle for control between legacy members and more recent defectors from opposing political parties.
