Commemorating National Police Day Through Financial Support

The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, CP Mamman Giwa, has overseen the distribution of N52.9 million to the relatives of ten police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty. Performing the presentation on behalf of Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu, Giwa emphasized that this gesture is a core component of the National Police Day 2026 celebrations. Under the theme of Community Partnership Building Trust, the event sought to honor the memory of the fallen while providing tangible assistance to their surviving dependants.

Guidance On Sustainable Financial Management For Beneficiaries

During the presentation ceremony held on Thursday, Commissioner Giwa provided explicit counsel to the recipient families regarding the long,term management of these funds. He urged the beneficiaries to resist the temptation of quick,return investment schemes and to be wary of individuals attempting to exploit their sudden liquidity. Instead, the commissioner recommended investing in genuine and profitable business ventures that can provide a stable income for school fees and other fixed household expenses.

Administrative Diligence In Processing Death Benefits

The successful disbursement of these funds is the result of extensive administrative work by the police command to ensure all due diligence was met. Rev. Charles Ugwuagu, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed profound gratitude to the Inspector General and the state command for their commitment to the welfare of deceased officers' families. He noted that the command's ability to operate as a cohesive family unit has provided much,needed closure and financial security to those left behind by the state's fallen heroes.
