A Guinness World Record in the West Sea

The Sky 184 observatory marks a significant engineering and tourism milestone for South Korea. Built into the primary support tower of the Cheongna Sky Bridge—which links the mainland’s Cheongna International City to Yeongjong Island—the structure reaches a height of 184.2 meters. This elevation officially unseats the previous record holder, the 128-meter Penobscot Narrows Bridge Observatory in Maine, USA.

City officials from Incheon confirmed that the facility was designed specifically to capitalize on the region’s unique maritime geography. By placing the public space at the very pinnacle of the bridge's main tower, architects have created a 339-square-meter floor plan that maximizes 360-degree visibility while maintaining the structural integrity of one of the country's most vital transportation arteries.

Edge Walk Thrills and Panoramic Vistas

The facility is divided into two distinct levels to cater to different types of tourists. The first level serves as a traditional indoor observatory, featuring high-powered telescopes and educational exhibits about the Incheon coastline. The second level, however, is designed for extreme tourism. It features an "edge walk" platform where visitors, secured by safety harnesses and specialized gear, can walk along the exterior perimeter of the tower.

On days with high visibility, the view from Sky 184 is among the most comprehensive in the country. To the west, visitors can track the activity of Incheon Port and the sprawling Yeongjong Island. To the east, the skyline of Seoul becomes visible, including iconic structures such as the Lotte World Tower and the N Seoul Tower. The Incheon Tourism Organization expects this vantage point to become a premier location for photography and regional sightseeing.
