Strategic Strike on Iranian Liaison Hubs
In a significant escalation of its operations in the Lebanese capital, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on April 4, 2026, that the Israeli Air Force had successfully bombed command centers belonging to the Quds Force in Beirut. According to military officials, these facilities were operated by the Quds Force’s "Lebanon Corps," a specialized unit within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that serves as the primary liaison between the Iranian government and Hezbollah. The IDF stated that these centers were essential for supporting Hezbollah’s ongoing military entrenchment and force buildup during the current regional conflict.
Dismantling Palestinian Islamic Jihad Infrastructure
In addition to the Iranian targets, the IAF struck two command centers utilized by senior officials of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) within Beirut. The military reported that these sites were critical nodes for decision-making and high-level coordination between PIJ and Hezbollah leadership. This targeted strike follows the IDF’s killing of the PIJ’s Lebanon sector commander, Abu Hamza Rami, earlier in March, signaling a persistent effort to neutralize the leadership and operational capacity of Iranian-aligned Palestinian groups operating from Lebanese soil.
Naval Engagement and Surveillance Disruption
The Israeli Navy also participated in the recent wave of strikes, successfully targeting a Hezbollah surveillance post. This maritime operation aims to degrade Hezbollah’s situational awareness and monitoring capabilities along the coast. These coordinated air and sea strikes occur as the IDF continues its broader ground invasion and air campaign, which was reignited on March 2 following a massive rocket barrage from Hezbollah in retaliation for the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
