Targeted Strikes Neutralize Direct Threats to Ground Forces
Following the implementation of a United States-brokered truce, the IDF reported its first confirmed kinetic actions against Hezbollah operatives in southern Lebanon. Troops from the 401st Armored Brigade, supported by the Israeli Air Force (IAF), identified multiple cells that military commanders characterized as being in violation of the "ceasefire understandings." According to military spokespersons, the operatives approached Israeli positions from the north in a manner that constituted an immediate threat to personnel. To mitigate this risk, the IAF conducted precise airstrikes, resulting in the elimination of several militants.
Establishment of the Yellow Line Security Demarcation
The IDF has officially designated its current line of deployment in southern Lebanon as the "Yellow Line," a military demarcation intended to separate Israeli-controlled territory from Hezbollah-held areas. This boundary serves a similar function to the de facto line established in the Gaza Strip earlier this year. Military officials emphasized that while the ceasefire is technically in effect, the IDF retains the authority to take necessary self-defense measures. Under current directives, any movement of armed individuals or suspicious cells toward the Yellow Line is treated as a breach of the agreement, triggering an immediate response to safeguard northern Israeli communities.
Destruction of Subterranean Infrastructure and Tunnel Shafts
In addition to neutralizing surface cells, the IDF conducted a targeted strike against a Hezbollah tunnel shaft south of the forward defense line. Military intelligence identified members of the militant group entering the underground infrastructure, which prompted a swift aerial response to destroy the facility. The 401st Armored Brigade has been tasked with deepening the destruction of terror infrastructure in the border region, particularly focusing on sites that could facilitate surprise attacks or long-range rocket launches. The military clarified that "actions of self-defense and the removal of threats are not limited by the ceasefire."
