Counter-Terrorism Operation in Fuqeiqis

Following an attempted infiltration into the West Bank settlement of Negohot earlier this morning, the IDF launched a targeted raid on the home of the suspect, identified as Muhammad al-Suweiti. The operation took place in the Palestinian village of Fuqeiqis, the home of the deceased infiltrator. Suweiti was shot and killed by security forces at the scene in Negohot after entering the settlement armed with a knife. The military response in Fuqeiqis was intended to neutralize potential further threats and gather intelligence regarding any broader cell or planning involved in the infiltration.

Discovery of Makeshift Weaponry and Gear

During the search of the Suweiti residence, IDF troops uncovered a stash of weapons and tactical equipment. According to a military statement, the findings included a "Carlo-style" makeshift firearm and various items of military gear. The IDF asserted that these items provided clear evidence that Suweiti had "planned to carry out acts of terror against Israeli civilians and IDF troops" beyond the immediate knife attack. The presence of a firearm in the home suggests a level of preparation that significantly exceeded a spontaneous assault, prompting the military to escalate their investigation into the suspect's background.

Detention of the Suspect’s Brother

In direct response to the weapons cache found at the scene, the IDF detained Muhammad al-Suweiti’s brother. The military cited the discovery of the makeshift gun and military equipment as the primary rationale for the arrest, suggesting potential complicity or knowledge of the planned attacks. The brother was immediately handed over to the Shin Bet security agency for further interrogation. This move is part of standard IDF protocol designed to determine if other family members or associates were involved in the logistics or radicalization process that led to the morning's infiltration.
