Strategic Assessment at the Underground Command Center

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir conducted a high-level security assessment on Tuesday at the military’s underground command center in Tel Aviv, marking a pivotal moment in the current conflict. During the briefing, Zamir characterized the present phase of the war as a strategic crossroads for the State of Israel and its international partners. He noted that the joint campaign has already secured significant military accomplishments, successfully meeting many of the initial objectives established when the broader offensive against the Iranian regime was launched in late February.

Deepening the Blows Against the Iranian Regime

The Chief of Staff emphasized that the military will not remain static despite reaching its current goals, vowing instead to act with increased determination. Zamir stated that the IDF intends to "deepen the blows" against the Iranian regime's core infrastructure and military capabilities. This directive suggests an expansion of the kinetic operations that have recently focused on dismantling Iranian transport networks, aviation fleets, and weapons manufacturing centers, as the IDF seeks to ensure the permanent degradation of Tehran's ability to project power across the Middle East.

Establishment of a Forward Defensive Area in Lebanon

Addressing the secondary front of the conflict, Zamir provided an update on the IDF’s ground offensive against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. He confirmed that Israeli forces are actively establishing a "forward defensive area" designed to prevent direct fire and cross-border raids into Israeli northern communities. This territorial control is intended to create a buffer zone that prioritizes the safety of civilians while allowing the military to focus its resources on larger strategic targets within the Iranian sphere of influence.
