The Morning Theft at Odo-Ona Kekere
Two men were brought before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Monday following allegations of motorcycle theft in the region. The defendants, identified as 30 year old Oyewole Akinola and 30 year old Daniel Olasunkanmi, are accused of operating in tandem to deprive a local citizen of his property. According to the prosecution, the criminal act took place in the early morning hours of March 19, specifically around 5:00 a.m. in the Odo-Ona Kekere area of the city.
Charges of Conspiracy and Stealing Filed
The legal proceedings led by prosecutor Olagoke Adegbenro outline a case of conspiracy and theft against the duo. The court heard allegations that the two men specifically targeted a TVS motorcycle, a vehicle estimated to have a market value of N140,000. The property in question belonged to Babatunde Osho, who is cited as the primary victim in the case. Despite the evidence presented regarding the timing and location of the incident, both defendants maintained their innocence during the arraignment.
Court Grants Bail and Sets Conditions
After hearing the initial arguments and the formal reading of the charges, the presiding magistrate, Olasinmibo Sanusi, deliberated on the custody status of the accused. The court ultimately decided to grant bail to both Akinola and Olasunkanmi, setting the bond at N50,000 each. A mandatory requirement for one surety in the same amount was also stipulated for each defendant to ensure their return for subsequent legal proceedings.
