Evening Pursuit Through Huntington Streets
Huntington Police initiated a search operation on Tuesday night following a vehicle pursuit that ended in a crash and a foot chase. According to reports from Cabell County dispatchers, the incident began around 8:30 p.m. when officers attempted to conduct a standard traffic stop at the intersection of West 6th Street and Madison Avenue. The unidentified driver refused to comply with the officers' commands and instead accelerated away from the scene, prompting a brief but intense pursuit through the local area.
Collision and Tactical Flight
The chase concluded shortly after it began when the suspect lost control of his vehicle. The car crashed on West 7th Street, specifically in the block situated between Madison Avenue and Jefferson Avenue. Immediately following the impact, the driver exited the disabled vehicle and fled the scene on foot. This rapid transition from a vehicular chase to a foot pursuit moved the focus of the investigation into the surrounding residential blocks as officers established a perimeter to prevent the suspect's escape.
K-9 Deployment in Residential Areas
To assist in the tracking of the fugitive, Huntington Police deployed K-9 officers to search the nearby residential neighborhood. These specialized units are being used to pick up the suspect's scent from the crash site and navigate the yards and alleyways where he may be attempting to hide. The presence of the canine teams indicates a high-priority effort to apprehend the individual before he can move further away from the initial site of the collision.
