Strategic Focus on Regional Connectivity
HSBC has announced two high-level appointments in Singapore designed to capitalize on the increasing economic activity between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The bank is positioning itself to serve as a primary link for Chinese companies and high-net-worth individuals utilizing Singapore as a regional hub. According to HSBC Singapore CEO Wong Kee Joo, the move strengthens the bank's ability to connect clients to new engines of growth across the fast-growing Southeast Asian market.
Wealth Management and Distribution
Ying Wang has been appointed as the Head of Distribution for International Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB) in Singapore. In this role, she will oversee all sales and service channels, including the international wealth hub, direct sales, and contact centers. Wang brings over 20 years of experience in wealth management and digital channels to the position. She previously served as the Head of Wealth and Premier Solutions for HSBC China, where she focused on customer acquisition and product development.
Corporate and Institutional Expansion
The bank has also named Irene Zeng as Managing Director and Head of Business Development for the China Corridor within Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB). This is a newly created role specifically designed to assist Chinese businesses and entrepreneurs with their cross-border expansion needs. Zeng is tasked with integrating the bank’s global network banking capabilities to support clients moving into Singapore and the wider ASEAN region. She previously held the position of Head of Global Payments Solutions at HSBC China and has over 25 years of experience in transaction banking.
