Bar-Hopping Without "Responsibilities"

The conversation was sparked by a Cosmopolitan article featuring a woman in a happy long-term relationship who fantasized about the freedom of being single. Goldberg, who has been single for nearly three decades, was quick to validate the sentiment.

“I am single,” Goldberg quipped to co-host Joy Behar. “Yeah, I bar-hop, I go hang! And I do hit and runs when I need it.”

She contrasted her lifestyle with those of her fellow panelists, including guest co-host Sara Eisen, noting that while they have the "responsibilities" of marriage, she enjoys being "the center of my own world."

A Longstanding Preference for the "Single Life"

This isn't the first time the Ghost star has championed the "hit and run" philosophy. In a May 2024 interview on The Don Lemon Show, Goldberg admitted she is "fundamentally a selfish person" who doesn't have the patience for the constant give-and-take required by marriage. Having been married three times—to Alvin Martin (1973–1979), David Claessen (1986–1988), and Lyle Trachtenberg (1994–1995)—Goldberg has concluded that traditional unions simply aren't for her. Her primary rule for hookups? "You can't spend the night."
