Massive Scale of Aerial Interceptions
Regional military command centers across the Gulf have recorded a surge in cross-border strikes, reporting the interception of more than 465 missiles and 1,414 drones since the onset of the confrontation. In Bahrain alone, the Defense Force confirmed the destruction of 73 missiles and 91 drones launched as part of what it described as a coordinated assault on the kingdom. These advanced defense systems are currently operating at maximum capacity to thwart indiscriminate attacks that regional officials say violate international humanitarian law and the United Nations Charter.
Attacks on Diplomatic Missions and Civilian Toll
Major General Turki Al-Maliki, spokesman for the Saudi Ministry of Defense, confirmed that the United States Embassy in Riyadh was targeted by two drones on Tuesday. Similar attacks were reported against the US Embassy in Kuwait. While air defenses successfully neutralized many of these threats, the human cost of the conflict became evident in Kuwait, where the Ministry of Health confirmed the death of an 11-year-old girl hit by falling shrapnel. Four other family members remain under medical observation following the incident, which has drawn sharp condemnation from across the GCC.
Energy Infrastructure and Industrial Suspensions
The conflict has forced a significant reduction in the region’s industrial output. QatarEnergy announced a comprehensive suspension of chemical, petrochemical, and downstream products, including urea, polymers, methanol, and aluminium. This follows an earlier halt in liquefied natural gas (LNG) production. In the United Arab Emirates, authorities in Fujairah contained a fire at the Oil Industry Zone (FOIZ) caused by debris from a successfully intercepted drone. Despite the damage, officials reported that operations have returned to normal and no injuries were sustained in the facility.
