Strategic Deployment for 2027 Ambitions
The Omoluabi Movement, a prominent grassroots political organisation in Ogun State, has officially commenced its mobilisation drive for the 2027 general elections. In a statement released in Abeokuta, the group reaffirmed its total commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC) hierarchy. The movement’s primary objectives include securing the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, supporting Governor Dapo Abiodun’s transition to the Senate, and backing Senator Solomon Adeola (popularly known as Yayi) for the Ogun State governorship.
Grassroots Infrastructure and Empowerment
To enhance its organisational efficiency, the movement has deployed 27 newly unveiled buses across the state’s three senatorial districts. These vehicles are intended to facilitate community engagement and coordination at the local level. Convener Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde disclosed that the group’s membership has already surpassed the 30,000 mark. To sustain this momentum, the movement plans to launch a comprehensive empowerment scheme targeting its entire registered base, ensuring that political participation is paired with tangible socio-economic support.
Defining the "Omoluabi" Identity
Addressing public speculation, Akintunde clarified that this Omoluabi Movement is entirely independent of the political group associated with former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola. He noted that while the term "Omoluabi" is a shared Yoruba concept representing integrity and character, this specific movement is focused exclusively on the political advancement of APC candidates within Ogun State. The group’s branding was further solidified following a royal blessing from the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, during the official unveiling of their operational fleet.
