The Breaking Development: Nine Extra Days of Diesel
The short-term agreement, which runs through December 31, 2027, sees the government utilizing existing infrastructure at the former refinery site to mitigate the risk of fuel shortages.
Storage Capacity: 93 million litres (equivalent to ~9 days of national demand).
Operational Date: May 31, 2026.
Financial Impact: The deal is expected to generate approximately $1.2 million per month in revenue for Channel Infrastructure, contributing an estimated $8 million in 2026 alone.
Upgrade Scope: Unlike a full refinery recommissioning, these upgrades focus on tank cleaning, new linework, and advanced pumping systems, allowing for a rapid turnaround compared to a 24-month refurbishment.
